I don’t know why everyone is surprised that Oprah will be having Sarah Palin on her show soon. Although, I am surprised that people aren’t pointing out that this will be incredibly beneficial for Palin. Oprah is known for pushing B-list stars to the A-list. In no way do I agree with Palin politically, but this will certainly boost book sales and put her on the bestseller list—maybe even...
Whether you're a Democrat or Republican, Socialist or of the Green Party, you are faced with the mind-boggling task of filing through the media's coverage of each candidate. With every click of the remote and turn of the page, falsehoods are being "ripped from the headlines," bearing witness to new age campaigning and swayed voting. As November looms over our heads it is about time that we cleared up a few of these well-known myths.
I think I might officially be obsessed with Saturday Night Live. Tina Fey already is one of my favorite people in television (if you've never watched 30 Rock, you should) and I love her renditions of Sarah Palin. My favorite sketch was the Sarah Palin/Hilary Clinton (Amy Poehler) opening, but all have been hilarious.
Now, I work Saturday nights so, I never get to watch the episodes live. Instead, I usually watch random clips online Sundays. Rumor had it, the real Sarah Palin would be in this week's episode.
And she was. But she kind of sucked. She wasn't particularly funny, intentionally or otherwise. So this is the conclusion I came to - Tina Fey should be John McCain's running mate. I bet she's more qualified.Â
If I hear the word "maverick" one more time, I might finally lose my cool. Then again, Joe Biden almost did.
Last night's VP debate wasn't the train wreck expected by political analysts. Palin met the low expectations set forth for her and Biden didn't come off as a know-it-all windbag.
The most memorable quote of the night was Palin enlightening Biden, informing him that the chant isn't "drill, drill, drill," but is "drill, baby, drill."
The most touching moment was when Biden choked up while speaking about the death of his first wife and daughter.
And the most frustrating moment when Palin failed to name a single Bush economic policy that she disagreed with.
All in all, the debate was entertaining, and slightly terrifying. 32 days until Nov. 4!
