My friend laughed and said that it indeed was an old blues number; “Hey Joe” had been around for years before Hendrix recorded his version. The best kind of cover is one that doesn’t even seem...

Andrew Bird Lights Up the State Theatre

Andrew BirdAndrew BirdTo one looking at the stage before any performers came out, it would be difficult to believe this was a solo show. The set up included four large horns, a guitar, a violin, a glockenspiel, various amps, and a tangle of pedals at the base of two microphones at the front of the stage. But there are many things difficult to believe about Andrew Bird.

Ben Folds - "Way to Normal" CD Review

Ben Folds is definitely not on his way to “normal.” After a creative and prolific career, the musician continues to deliver songs with catchy rhythms and innovative lyrics. His latest album, Wayto Normal (2008), doesn’t fail to deliver. Containing songs that are both sarcastic and tranquil, Ben Folds’ fans and first-time listeners will not be disappointed.

Show Review: Elemenopy with Lindsey Nadolski and Jesse Wakeman at the Unknown Theatre

As the curtains fall in the small theater -- about 50 seats in five rows -- the audience stands with a roar of cheers and applauds. The cast, whose number could fit in the palm of your hand, comes out from backstage to absorb the gratitude one last time. After the audience settles, they begin to file out, row by row, but not to go home; just a short trip to the lounge where an open bar awaits and a new crowd fills the couches lined against the opposing wall. The main event has yet to even set up.
