The Relayer

On September 13, Richard Hamilton passed away. His name probably doesn't ring any sort of a bell, gong or chimes for Americans of the millennial generation (outside of university art history departments) - but it probably should. The UK newspaper The Guardian, in an obituary, called Hamilton, "the most influential British artist of the 20th century." Hamilton was the original badass of 20th...

The Sound of Silence

Today, I have thoughts and feelings similar to those that I imagine most Americans feel on this particular date each year; but there was an element of shock added this morning, as it has been a full decade since the September 11th terrorist attacks.

Typical Girls

Whatever happened to rebellious, edgy and utterly fabulous girl rock? All my single ladies haven't had a legitimately rocking movement since those Riot Grrrls took the Pacific Northwest by storm in the early 1990s.

The Swingin' Sounds of London Town

Hiya, readers! It's been entirely too long, and for that I profusely apologize. I've had a busy, dynamic, stressful and mostly wonderful year so far. I hope that you all can say the same (minus the stress part, of course), and that you're as ready as I am to get back down to this business of music news.

Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My... Poster?

I've always been envious of friends who vividly and imaginatively dream. They play parts in their favorite movies, climb up rainbows, talk to animals, travel the world... you know the drill.

The Nickelback Phenomenon

A wonderful little slice of hilarity popped up on my Facebook feed today, posted by one of those hundreds of friends that we have on the deliciously creepy social media site that we met once and never had the time or inclination to talk to again. But inspiration for blogging comes from the most unexpected sources...

Drake Gets Intense

Drake, Drake, Drake. (Please read in Jan Brady's "Marcia, Marcia, Marcia" voice). The small population of the Earth that doesn't know who he is includes hermits from the Henry David Thoreau school of transcendental crazies... and that's about it.

The Almighty Who

In this auto-tuned and over-processed millennial music scene, it's rare that I get to blog about one of my favorite bands (who all had their hay-day during the latter half of the twentieth century).

Grammy By Grammy

Apologies, readers. I'm a little late on the Grammy blog post. The beginning of any semester, as you all well know, is strange and takes some getting used to. But better late than never, right?

Peace On Earth

For college students across the country, the first two or three weeks in December bring the seemingly insurmountable mountain of final exams, papers and payback for all of that sinfully sweet procrastination. Know that there is a joyous time waiting for us all. It's the holidays, and believe it or not, they'll be here in a few weeks!

It Might Get Awesome

Some great documentaries have been produced this decade, like Trouble the Water, which took us inside Hurricane Katrina through the devastating home videos of a couple who weathered the storm in New Orleans.
