Phoenix is a High School Lover

French band Air is probably best known for scoring "The Virgin Suicides," a (pretty good, actually) 90s teen flick starring Kirsten Dunst and Josh Hartnett. Their hit "Playground Love" is a soft melodic trip into a summer night, with a tinkling guitar, mellow vocals, and a smooth saxophone line. It's obviously not Top 40, but it's been used in the background of a lot of movie trailers and you probably know it without knowing you do.

Phoenix is a little bit better known, with hits like "Listomania" and "1901" filling up the indie airwaves and backing commercials for SUVs. They decided to take a shot at "Playground Love," keeping the soft and pretty nature of the song and leaving out the saxophone. And I gotta hand it to them, they did a great job.
