Obadiah Parker Shakes It Like A Polaroid Picture
Rap is sort of infamous for sampling, and using other people's songs in their own. It's kind of the hip-hop community's version of covering a song: taking something fantastic and then rapping over it. Folk singer Obadiah Parker comes from the more traditional idea of a cover song: where an artist just takes someone else's song and sings it.
But rather than just performing the song exactly as it was the original was, Obadiah Parker decided to take an already creative rap song and make it into an almost romantic acoustic jam. His starting material is the well-loved "Hey Ya" by Andre 3000 of Outkast. His version? Not exactly the same, but equally (if not more) good. So good, in fact, that the cover was covered on "Scrubs." So...a double cover? I don't know what you would call that. Maybe a duvet.
