Adam Levine "Fell" Into The Beatles
Let me make this clear. Usually, I'm not a fan of Beatles' covers. I liked "Across the Universe," yes, but that was a rare exception when the cover version didn't suck. They weren't the Beatles, but they were fresh enough to make up for that. In my book, generally, covering The Beatles is a sure-fire way to kill any credibility that you have (for example, Lady GaGa covering "Imagine?" I'm not a fan).
But when I found this cover of "If I Fell" by Adam Levine (frontman of Maroon 5), I was pleasantly surprised. It's the classic "Man and a Guitar" combo and it works. His voice is nothing like John's, Paul's, George's, or Ringo's. And that's why it's good, I think. He's using his white-boy-soul falsetto to his advantage and making a really unique version of a classic. Well done, Adam.
