Movie Review - The Last Song

The Last Song is another sum of typical Nicholas Sparks’ parts. Moving far away plus young love plus fatal disease equals sultry melodrama made for 14 year olds. That being said, if you aren’t 14 but enjoy a good ol’ cheesy love story and are infatuated with Miley Cyrus (like, ahem, me) this movie may be for you.


Movie Review - Hot Tub Time Machine

What’s more fun than grown men drinking beers, trying to pick up ladies, and broing out? Try throwing in a (drum roll please) hot tub time machine that transports the dudes back to the ‘80s and it’s a guaranteed good time. While not quite as funny as other bromantic comedies like last year’s The Hangover and I Love You Man, its ridiculous scenario differentiates Hot Tub Time Machine.


Knowledge Is Our Unused Weapon: How Americans Can Save the World

I’ve heard it argued that the problem with Americans is the demand for immediate fulfillment and material goods that permeates our society. We’ve been charged with being self-centered people, unaware of the world around us. Though there may be some truth to the statement on the whole, I disagree with the last point. Americans are acutely aware of global issues.

Movie Review - The Runaways

Dakota Fanning struts around on screen sporting a white satin corset, black thigh-highs, and at least 5-inch silver platform heels. She lays a conglomeration of pills on the stage floor, crushes them with her heels, and is soon on her knees snorting the white powder up. Moments later, she’s singing into a microphone:

“Hello, world, I’m your wild girl. I’m your ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-cherry bomb!”
