At College, You Can Have it Your Way

Dr. Silas Pearman, assistant academic dean in Furman University’s Individualized Curriculum Program, said allowing students to create their own major is beneficial in today’s world.

“Given the multi-disciplinary nature of many vocations, these programs can be quite important for preparing students for leadership positions in areas where traditional majors do not exist," Pearman said.

Sporting Disaster

On a clear fall night in New Orleans, more than 65,000 people packed the Superdome, screaming for the return of the New Orleans Saints.

On that same night, more than 100 million people across America sat glued to their television sets, watching the scene play out in real time on ESPN.

The subplots behind the game were practically bigger than the game itself. The way ESPN chose to portray those subplots illustrates a long connection between sports and national affairs.

FutureSex/LoveSound Review

Justin Timberlake. Not exactly a name that inspires much confidence in the music world. Except, of course, in bubble gum land. His first solo album proved only that he had musical talent beyond that of *NSync, but did little more than that. Now, with his latest cd, “FutureSex/LoveSound” he allows the listener to see that his musical prowess extends much, much farther than the world of pop.

Don't Blink; You'll Miss It

In only 87 minutes, professional assassin Chev Chelios (Jason Statham) drinks more than his weight in caffeine, gets down and dirty with his girlfriend Eve (Amy Smart) in public, hangs from a helicopter, snorts cocaine, gets high on nose spray, trips on epinephrine, grabs a taxi, steals a motorcycle, robs a store, pays a visit to his boss, and gets in a few fights—while still managing to whack a few cronies along the way.
