Fashion’s Music-Sensitive Major Movements

Throughout the past century, some of the major sub-culture movements rebelling against society gave birth to a few of fashion’s most major scenes and trends. As holds true with most movements, the beginning often worked around the birth of a new genre of music to tell the story of the people who no longer identified with the prominent culture surrounding them.


Breaking Down the Hex

You cheered on the U.S. in their snowy victory against Costa Rica, stood with them in the agony of defeat in Honduras and felt very high and low in a gutsy performance to earn the “Golden Point” in Estadio Azteca against Mexico. Great! Now what does it all mean?


Summer Bucket List

My freshman year has been crazy. I say crazy in a good way. When I use this term, I mean extremely busy and stressful but also an insane amount of fun. Coming from high school, this year’s workload has been more than what I expected, but I stuck through it. Now with only three weeks left of school, the only thing on my mind is everyone's favorite time of year: summer.

My Glasses

Since I was five,
I used to pop out
the lenses of my sunglasses,
and walk around carrying books upside down
pretending I was reading.
I always wanted
glasses
so I could truly belong
in the library
ocular camouflage for the astute
eager to add a "professional" accessory
to my vintage, seven-year-old appearance.
So when I couldn't see
the chalkboard,
I called my mom immediately

I was driving around with a friend of mine when “Hey Joe” by The Jimi Hendrix Experience came on the radio. A great song, we both agreed, and I added that the lyrics make it sound like an old blues number. My friend laughed and said that it indeed was an old blues number; “Hey Joe” had been around for years before Hendrix recorded his version.
