Playing the Tourist

The Walkabout students had an eight-day "spring break" this past week, where we could travel independently for awhile (I put "spring break" in quotes because it's Fall here). A bunch of people went to New Zealand, some went to Thailand and a few went to Singapore. I went to Cairns, pronounced "cans," in northeast Queensland to see the Great Barrier Reef. World Indoor Rowing Championships

Check out Chris' video package on YouTube. They drove three and a half hours for a seven-minute event in which their nervous anticipation and excitement was crushed by excruciating pain. At the end of it, they were nauseous, sore – and elated. In Bruges -- Movie Review

Talk first. Explain later. It’s a compelling narrative device used too little in films. Thankfully, award-winning playwright Martin McDonagh understands the intrigue behind a little mystery. In Bruges is McDonagh’s first stab (or should that be shot?) at bringing his infinitely dark sense of humor to a feature length movie.

Come On And Let It Out

Everyone has a song they put on when they're sad. Everyone. I don't care who you are. If you're alive and kicking, you've got a sad song.

Maybe it was from a bad break-up. Maybe you've just lost someone special to you. Perhaps the family dog ran away. And maybe you just had crappy day. Regardless of the cause, you have that song you use for that special sad occasion. For many of us, we have different songs for different things and different moods.
